Deburring Solutions Aren’t One-Size-Fits-All

deburring

We’ve talked a lot in the past about the importance of the proper use of deburring machinery, especially in large scale industrial manufacturing applications. Deburring extends tool life, saves wear and tear, increases productivity, and ultimately saves time and money, not just for manufacturers, but for their customers as well. At CDMC we’re big believers in the importance of proper deburring. But deburring is just one complex piece of the machine finishing puzzle, and deburring solutions are not one-size-fits-all.

Take chamfering, for instance. Profile chamfering is just one of the many machine finishing solutions that we offer here at CDMC. It’s a method of machining angled edges around a cylindrical workpiece, such as a gear or sprocket. It involves a small angled cut to remove the 90 degree edge from a piece. Chamfering is used in a variety of fields, including woodworking, glass cutting, and architecture. Chamfering can provide high precision, but the process can also create secondary micro burrs that can affect the part’s functionality if they’re not addressed. A simple chamfering solution may not take into account things like secondary micro burrs, which can lead to part misalignment and other problems down the road.

We offer an array of chamfering solutions, achieved via abrasive deburring wheels, carbide rotary files, or a combination of the two. Our standard Model 1000, Model 1002, and Model 2000 machines can all perform profile chamfering, as well as our recently-unveiled RZero Deburring Machine, a servo-controlled robotic mechanism that can be equipped with a wide variety of tools for different machine finishing needs.

At the end of the day, no two sets of deburring and machine finishing needs are exactly the same. You can see how even one specific machine finishing function like chamfering requires careful calculation of the exact needs of a specific process or workpiece.  All of our ready-made solutions are customizable to the different needs of our customers, and if one of them doesn’t fit the bill, we’re always ready to develop a new solution for your business.

We’re built on the principles of innovation, and we don’t believe in resting on our laurels. Manufacturing is a dynamic and constantly evolving industry, and deburring machine technology has to evolve with it if it wants to keep up. That’s why we’re constantly developing new approaches and new solutions for our customers’ ever-changing needs.
