TURBINE BLADES
APPLICATION
A manufacturer of aerospace turbine blades required a machined chamfer at the base of their blades to be blended to specifications.
SOLUTION
Blades are secured in a turret style spindle assembly while held in place with custom clamp tooling provided by the customer.
Two 14” nylon brushes driven by D.C. motors on pivoting slide assemblies are used to contact the work area.
In order to maintain consistent cut force while following the work area profile, Auto Amp Compensation is used.
Once able to hit the dimensional specification via trial and error, work parameters can be saved to achieve consistent results from cycle to cycle.
